SCA is to invest SKr290m in its Bollsta sawmill, increasing sawn product output by 75,000m³.

The investment will include an upgrade of the sawmill line, taking annual output to 525,000m³; increased kilning capacity; and the installation of two biofuel boilers to replace an existing oil-based boiler. The new boilers, which will be fired by bark and sawmill residues, will cut the mill’s annual oil consumption significantly.

“It’s very satisfying being able to eliminate the use of fossil fuels at the sawmill and dry the wood using only renewable biofuel. These boilers have the capacity for a further increase in the output of the sawmill,” said mill manager Katarina Levin.
