SCA is investing SKr250m in a new log sorting line which will yield a 140,000m³ annual increase in production of spruce products.

The new line, scheduled to be put into operation in July 2011, is aimed to help make Tunadal one of the best spruce mills in Europe and will see an additional 10-15 staff employed at the mill.

The investment also includes increased drying capacity and minor investments in green sorting and the three sawlines.

On completion, Tunadal will move from two to three shifts.

“This investment not only boosts our production and competitiveness, but will also allow us to increase our share of value-added and customised products,” said Ville Huittinen, Tunadal sawmill manager.

“Our goal is to put Tunadal sawmill on an even footing with the best spruce sawmills in Europe and this investment represents a significant step in the right direction.”
