A Norfolk sawmill is to close after more than 100 years in business.

Coughtrey’s Timber of Griston, near Watton, opened in 1895 and was owned by several generations of the Coughtrey family before being bought by Roger Munday, who is now retiring. The site will be sold for redevelopment.

He said: “We are probably one of the last of the type where you can get machine timber to your personal specifications.

“We are very antiquated. We have got old machines, but they were built to last and they do a better job than many new machines.”
