Travel restrictions imposed because of the Sars virus have caused the rescheduling of the American Hardwood Export Council’s (AHEC) Southeast Asian & Greater China Convention.

Two conventions due to take place in June – one in China and the other in Vietnam – have been combined and postponed until December 4-5.

The programme, which remains unchanged, will focus on the hardwood trade and hardwood products processing, including furniture.

The convention will be held in Ho Chi Minh City and delegates are expected from the US and all over Asia.

John Chan, AHEC’s regional director for Southeast Asia and Greater China, said: “We are keen to address this new market in ASEAN and look forward to making new friends and meeting many colleagues, including our exporting members from the US, in Vietnam in December.”
