The trees were provided by guest speaker Jan Desnet, of Belgium wood veneer company Decospan, who gave an informative overview of the prospects – and challenges – faced by the industry.
He said the wood veneer industry’s future was positive, despite competition from China and wide-scale plant closures.
But, he said: “We need to solve issues for our customers by offering solutions and, at the same time, adding value to the boards.”
