TimberWindows.com, the internet-based timber window company, said it has more than doubled sales in the first half of 2007.

Business increased 106% during the first six months, compared with the same period in 2006, a spokesperson said. The company said during March its online order system generated a record £9.5m worth of quotes from dealers.

“Sales are up because our registered installers’ businesses are growing – they’re getting more leads generated from our website and are confident in selling the product to homeowners,” said managing director Chris Brunsdon.

“The industry is beginning to realise that wood has always been good for business.”

TimberWindows.com has main offices in Oxford, but products are manufactured in Poland in a hangar on a former Russian airfield. The company installed machinery and tooling of its own and says it has expanded capacity by more than three times in the past year.
