Saint-Gobain, which owns Jewson Ltd, has recorded a slight net consolidated sales increase for the first quarter of 2002.

Sales were euro7.3bn, 0.4% up on the same period in 2001, with building industry divisions enjoying ‘satisfactory’ growth and prices improving.

Meanwhile, Jewson has acquired Prudhoe-based general merchant Rylec Ltd, strengthening its position in north-east England.
