S Silverman & Son (Importers) Ltd has invested more than £1m in a new site for its Andover branch.

The firm, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last week, has bought a 109-year lease on a warehouse and offices close to its existing branch.

The 2.7-acre site on the West Portway Industrial Estate has 38,000ft² of storage space/ offices, slightly less than the current 41,000ft².

The panel products firm says the new facilities are superior, providing a more customer focused trade collection area, multiple door access for loading/unloading, and a bigger driveway and yard area around the warehouse for vehicles to manoeuvre.

Managing director Mark Silverman said: ‘We have been aware for some time that the existing branch has not been able to offer our calling customers the type of service we wish and they demand. The new site allows us to put this important part of our business right.’

Staff will relocate to the new premises later this year.
