Södra has produced a booklet outlining its stance on forest certification and its involvement in trying to bring two certification schemes together.
Södra members certify their forests in accordance with the Swedish Pan European Forest Certification (PEFC) standard.
However, the organisation has been involved with a working party – codenamed Stock Dove – in negotiations to make the PEFC scheme compatible with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) scheme.
Stock Dove has recommended 17 supplementary clauses to the PEFC standard and four to the FSC standard to make them compatible.
If Stock Dove is approved, Sweden will be the first country in the world to show the two standards can work together.
