Södra is preparing to build a timber tennis centre in a bid to raise timber construction to new heights.

The project is the result of an architectural competition run by Södra to design the tennis venue. Some 193 plans from 23 countries were received.

The winning entry was Tennis + trä by Danish architects Kent Pedersen Arkitektfirma.

Södra has continued with the work by assessing the cost of building the winning concept as well as initial draft planning.

Södra has now chosen to build the tennis centre adjacent to its main office in Växjo.

In addition to the building plans, Södra has been discussing the use and running of the centre with former tennis world champion Stefan Edberg, ex-Davis Cup captain Carl-Axel Hageskog and Magnus Larsson, assistant David Sup captain.
