The mill in Viresjö has a sawing volume of 80,000m3 a year and includes a planing mill, pressure treatment and pellet production. Annual sales are SKr180m.
Södra has a strong presence in the area. Its sawmill in Mönsterås, which saws spruce and pine, will now switch to specialised spruce production, concentrating pine and pressure treatment at Baro Wood.
A spokesperson for Södra Timber said: “We need to increase our sawing capacity for pine and specialised pine production, and this acquisition provides that. Baro Wood is an excellent company in a geographical location that is ideal for our expansion.”
