Scottish specialist timber supplier Russwood is expanding its operations to keep pace with increased demand, with help from the Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).
The Newtonmore-based business, which supplies timber, decking, flooring and cladding, has received £33,471 from HIE to help with “significant” investments, including a new drying shed.
Russwood, which has grown substantially in the last year, creating three new positions, says the new shed will enable it to produce a ready supply of timber at the correct moisture content. Also included in the spend is a new paint line, insulation of an existing shed and additional office space.
The company was one of the first businesses in Badenoch and Strathspey to install a biomass heating system and the new developments are expected to further boost Russwood’s green credentials.
“The investment we are making in our business is a direct result of the increasing demand for our products,” said managing director John Russell. “We have strong aspirations to keep growing and this project is a significant step towards achieving this.”
Russwood is currently working with the Centre for Timber Engineering at Edinburgh’s Napier University to develop a new timber façade system which will simplify installation and maintenance issues for their customers.
