Russia is to decrease its exports of unprocessed timber, according to Russian prime minister Mikhail Fradkov.
Speaking at the opening of the second Russian-Finnish Timber Forum in Helsinki he said the decision has been written in to the Russian Timber Code due to be submitted to the state duma.
A draft code is under discussion and Mr Fradkov said a balanced law that would take into account the interest of businesses would be adopted.
