The Russian government has signalled the future direction of its timber industry’s development with a resolution which includes prioritising the export of value added products.

The government also wants to see facilities developed for the manufacture of plywood, boards, furniture and other timber products.

Russia intends to completely meet the needs of its domestic market, gradually develop international trading and improve competitive capability of production.

The country possesses a quarter of the world’s timber reserves but has just a 3% share of world trade in wood and paper products.
