Importer and distributor Rowlinson Timber has seen massive growth in sales as its just-in-time delivery service on Baltic and Russian timber gains more UK customers.

Turnover has risen by almost 50% for the year to April 2003 compared with the previous 12 months – equating to a significant increase in the volume of timber supplied to the UK trade.

To meet rising demand, Rowlinson has doubled its UK landed stock since December. It maintains a month’s supply for 24/48 hour delivery nationwide, and is increasing the size and frequency of vessels which bring timber on weekly schedules into its distribution terminal.

The non-CCA treatment plant installed at the terminal last year is now working a double shift and has just been extended to handle growing demand for this service.

Rowlinson is currently recruiting new staff in all areas of its business – shipping, haulage, trading and administration – to maintain and improve services to existing and new customers during its planned expansion.
