French-owned tropical hardwood specialist Rougier has reported a “buoyant” first half of 2007, with net profits up 131% to €7.9m compared with a year ago.

The company’s sales increased to €87.5m from €80.7m.

Rougier said changes in the production range toward a higher share of processed products would be further reinforced during the fourth quarter when the new sawmill facility in Mevang Gabon entered production.

“Despite the impact of increased energy, land and sea logistics costs, the second half-year looks promising,” the company said.
