The company expects to complete purchase agreements for seven Georgia-Pacific panel mills by December 1.
The purchase of the Holly Hill mill in South Carolina would be Roseburg’s first foray into the MDF business. The other mills manufacture chipboard.
“Roseburg Forest Products has been determined to enter the MDF business for some time now, and this acquisition gives us the opportunity to meet one of our objectives,” said Roseburg president Allyn Ford.
Roseburg plans to hire the vast majority of existing employees at the mills.
