Metsäliitto and SPU Systems have joined forces to create a new energy-efficient roof for detached houses.

The passive roof element consists of a load-bearing Kerto structure, heat insulation and a supporting rail. The element is made to specified measurements to a maximum size of 2.4x9m.

It is mounted on a detached house’s ridge beam and wall, usually with a bearing distance of six metres. It has already been used for several houses in Finland.

“The roof of the detached house can be installed in one day and the heating can be switched on right away,” said Janne Jormalainen, deputy managing director of SPU Systems.

“The element has no heat bridge and, because of the use of Kertom can be processed easily at the worksite,” said Kari Kemppainen, sales manager at Metsäliitto. “It is easy to make roof penetrations, for example, by using traditional tools.”
