The Roof Truss Company Ltd (RTC) has sold its timber merchanting business to allow it to focus on timber engineered products.

The company, which is celebrating 13 years in business, sold its Moycroft Elgin merchants to another independent Scottish timber company, Rembrand Timber Ltd. Trade will continue from the existing premises.

Robbie Grant, RTC’s operations director said: ‘We had to focus on where we saw the growth opportunities for the company and have identified that this lies mainly with timber engineering. This sale releases additional capital to enable us to maximise on the many opportunities available for engineered products.’

RTC’s other divisions, which include roof truss manufacture, timber frame, I joists and builders merchants will continue to trade as normal. Its builders supplies business will be renamed Moray Building Supplies.

Rembrand Timber, established 20 years ago, has eight branches across Scotland.

George Low, Rembrand managing director, said: ‘We look forward to building on the existing excellent customer base and offering an enhanced product range to the trade.’
