A consignment of 11,000m3 of plywood (5,000 tonnes) arrived from the Far East on board the Ivory Star at Clydeport’s King George V dock, Glasgow.

A distribution depot and sales office have also been opened by RKL on King George V to serve existing customers and develop new business.

Swansea-based RKL described the expansion as a “major step up” and one which the company had considered for some time as part of ongoing growth plans.

“We had previously been servicing Scotland via our Londonderry distribution depot, but it became clear that we required a dedicated facility to receive direct shipments,” said RKL national sales manager Chris Jones.

Clydeport said the shipment emphasised King George V’s position as a key facility for the unloading of dry materials.
