A Pennine Valley woodland has been named the best wood to be planted in Yorkshire and the Humber during the past five years.
Hemplow Wood, near Marsden, won the John Boddy Rosebowl, awarded by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, in a competition judged by the Forestry Commission. Colne Valley Tree Society created the wood to restore oak woodland all but erased by overgrazing.
