European importers of tropical timber and wood products will have another chance to meet with African suppliers at Race Wood 2006 to be held in Ghana.

The first Race Wood – a project which came out of the PRO€INVEST programme for the promotion of investments in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries – was held in Libreville in 2004.

It brought together 40 companies from eight central African countries, and 35 European operators from 11 countries who were in search of new legal and sustainable timber supply sources.

The date for the next Race Wood has not yet been finalised, but the aim is to establish sustainable financial, economic and technical partnerships and promote local companies.
