Rörvik Timber has decided to shut down production for a month to avoid stock building at its sawmills.

The cutback, equating to 27,000m³, will be implemented immediately. It means the company’s sawn timber output has now decreased by 45% in the past year.

“The production constraints within the sawmill industry, which have been implemented and so far planned for 2009, have not yet given any positive effect on sales prices or resulted in the necessary price reductions for forest raw material,” said Rorvik’s CEO Per Rodert.

Previous cutbacks announced in January involved the sawmiller reducing shifts at Boxholm, Myresjö and Rörvik from two shifts to 10 hours of production during the first quarter.
