Pupils from a Welsh school built themselves a wooden stage, after advice from their local Forest Education Initiative (FEI) cluster group.

The children, from Comins Coch school in Aberystwyth, followed the timber’s progress, from its forest origins through to construction in the school grounds.

Organised by the Ceredigion FEI cluster group, the project’s aim was to increase the pupils’ awareness of the link between woodlands and timber products.

Split into eight sessions, the children were given an insight into the different parts of the forestry and timber industries, from selecting trees in the forest, through processing to building and using the finished stage.
