The Forestry Contracting Association has confirmed a three-year project to support and raise standards among small and medium-sized firms in the forestry and related sectors throughout the ‘Wales Objective 1’area.

Backed by the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund and the Forestry Commission in Wales, the scheme will include awareness-raising seminars on best environmental practice and chain of custody certification; training in environmentally sustainable planting and harvesting of timber including Forest Machine Operator Certification; and ‘effective use of logistics packages in timber haulage’.
