MDF mouldings manufacturer Primer Mould is doubling storage space at its Manchester site to keep pace with sales growth.

The company, which grew sales of profiles and architraves by 25% last year, is building a second warehouse which, with new materials handling equipment and racking systems, is expected to deliver greater efficiency in the distribution of finished products to timber and builders merchant customers.

The 13,600ft[sup]2[/sup] warehouse, a £275,000 investment which is due for completion at the end of June, increases the company’s storage space to 25,600ft[sup]2[/sup].

Managing director Jonathan Grant said the plans would enable Primer Mould to hold additional stock and optimise its ability to pick orders.

He said: “The MDF mouldings market is definitely buoyant and the housing sector is still moving quite nicely in the right direction.”

The company also intends to commission new delivery vehicles, resplendent in recently redesigneed livery.

Primer Mould, which has been trading for more than 45 years, supplies MDF mouldings solely to merchants.
