The BLP Group has automated cabinet fascia production of its SCW brand by combining all pressing and machining into a single throughfeed line.

A new Priess & Horstmann BAT-DTW-CNC high-speed drilling station with automatic hinge and multi-boring facilities has been installed in-line with existing routing, sanding and membrane pressing at the Doncaster factory.

BLP says production has been speeded up, with handling and product quality improved.

The CNC controls of the Priess, supplied by Savecrest Machines, makes it possible to bring throughfeed drilling into the line. Very small batches, even single panels, can be processed without the usual time penalties.

Routered panels leaving belt sanders are bar coded and then scanned on entry to the Priess machine. The bar codes contain fascia dimensions, plus customer and batch details, enabling the drilling pattern to be reset within ‘micro seconds’.
