Oxford-based Timbmet has revealed a range of pre-finished decking, which Mr Young has said is the first professional pre-finished range on offer in the UK and is “a fab idea”.
Produced in the UK, the decking is finished on all sides and is available in light oak, mahogany and rosewood finishes, although other colour tints can be added at the maunfacturing stage for large orders, and it can be delivered in component pieces to meet the specific needs of architects and designers.
Mr Young said that this should help those using hardwood to move away from specifying based on species towards focusing on the properties of the end product.
“Hardwood is a sector that has been waiting for this product,” said Mr Young. “It is something that really supports the notion of ‘lets promote the product and suitability of the end product’.”
Mr Young added that specifying hardwood on the end products properties rather than species would help negate market pressures, including the rising cost of specific hardwood timber types.
It has also been confirmed that the new range of pre-finished hardwood decking has qualified for the TDA Deckmark Plus Scheme as Timbmet has undertaken good manufacturing processes and had the product resistance tested in wet and dry conditions.
