All Pourform-MDO panels entering the UK will now be certified after the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) schemes gave the range chain of custody (CoC) approval.

Ainsworth Lumber Co Ltd, which manufactures the concrete-forming panels, said that “not having full CoC…could be detrimental for contractors” working on high-profile developments.

Ainsworth manages theee million ha of publicly owned land in British Columbia and Alberta in Canada, which are now approved by PEFC as well as being covered by ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management System.

New UK government timber procurement rules are due to come into force in April 2009, which will see only independently verified legal and sustainable timber or Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade licensed products permitted to be used in government projects.
