A vastly improved wood products performance has helped US lumber company Potlatch Corporation record a fourth quarter net profit of US$31.5m, compared to a loss of US$34.5m a year earlier.

The wood products division returned an operating profit of US$55m, thanks to higher OSB prices and increased shipments across all panel and lumber product areas. The division had a US$17.6m loss in the fourth quarter of 2002.

Potlatch’s net profit for 2003 totalled US$50.7m, compared to a net loss of US$234.4m in 2002.
