The company, which produces sleeved posts protected from rot at ground contact level, began working with Network Rail in 2009 resulting in two years of successful field and installer trials. Postsaver was specified for all replacement and new timber trackside fencing, said Postsaver managing director Richard George.
Network Rail has tens of thousands of miles of fencing to maintain and replace and expects posts to last for 25 years. The posts are protected at ground level by a dual layer of heat shrinkable sleeve material.
Mr George said the company was starting to supply in volume and this is expected to grow as the new specification is rolled out across the country.
Postsaver was already predicting a tripling of sales this year and Mid-Wales sawmill Llandre Sawn Wood has ordered a second Postsaver application machine, which will increase capacity to 1,000 posts an hour.
