The UK-based company says it has launched a fresh push in Europe after perfecting the product in America, where Postsaver is used in applications ranging from wine staves to utility poles.

The recycled polyethene product is coated internally with bituminous sealant and heat shrunk onto the bottom of wooden posts as a chemical-free protection for timber used in direct ground contact.

Postsaver is also effectively re-launching in the UK, as former licensed operator BSW Timber ceased manufacturing the product more than a year ago.

The company is in talks with several UK timber product companies, such as sawmills and fencing producers, about becoming licensed producers of Postsaver fencing, while it has also attracted interest in Sweden, Norway and Holland.

“We are looking to develop a business which will be established over the medium to long term,” said Postsaver’s international business manager Jean-Claude Bergot.

He said successful applications in the US and a good response at last year’s Ligna show had persuaded the company to expand its horizons.

The UK’s DIY sector is a major target due to the large consumption of timber fencing products.

Postsaver chief executive David Butler said the company’s newly-revamped website, now in several languages, had already received a good response.

“In no time at all the wisdom of this action has been proved by the number of enquiries we are now receiving from right across Europe,” he said.
