Interbuild exhibitors are reporting positive feedback at this year’s show, despite the event being noticeably smaller than previous years.
Most exhibitors TTJ spoke to on Monday said the journey to Birmingham NEC was well worthwhile, with a contingent of Irish sawmillers particularly upbeat about securing an increased slice of the UK construction timber market.
Glennon Brothers, Murray Timber and ECC Timber Products joined together under the Enterprise Ireland stand with Irish state forester Coillte to promote their CLS and carcassing products. “The big hitters are out today,” said Murray sales director Patrick Murray.
Two German sawmillers – Holz Schmidt and Ante-Holz – were also pushing their KVH construction timber and carcassing.
Ante-Holz export manager Kai Oberlies reported good contacts at the show, even though he said he was “shocked” that there was no Timber Zone this year.
Timber products featured strongly in Sustainability Street – a collection of buildings showcasing innovative construction methods.
