Irish stevedore Martin Butterly Ltd has erected a portable building at its Drogheda Port site to increase on-quay storage, improve efficiency and reduce logistical problems.

The company currently imports 350,000 tonnes of timber and steel a year, mainly from Scandinavia, Russia and Latvia, and the cargoes have been held at secure stores on quay and at a warehouse complex off quay.

The cargoes are transported to suppliers throughout Ireland as required – but storage remote from the quay was causing significant logistics issues, so the company decided to increase facilities at the berth.

As the company leases the land from the Drogheda Port Company, which has major expansion plans under way, it opted for a BestHall Tension Membrane Building from Collinson which can be moved as the site is developed.
