Jenkins Shipping made the agreement on the back of a contract to import paper reels from Sweden for Holmen Paper AB, but the company said the facility would also be used for timber from other customers.
Jenkins Shipping commercial director Rob Stewart said the company imported one million tonnes of forest products throughout the UK and Ireland a year, including sawn and kilned timber.
"Our aim is to provide world class facilities, service and care to Holmen Paper and to expand the Hull service to other Jenkins customers," he said.
The new £2.5m warehouse is in addition to the 133,500m2 or 33 acres of covered storage dedicated to paper and forest products at Hull.
Matth Jukes, ABP port director for Hull & Goole, said: "Our investment in the new warehouse consolidates Hull’s position as the natural distribution centre for paper and forest products from Scandinavia and the Baltic."
