Polish sawmills and plywood companies are facing a big shortfall in timber supplies due to the country’s booming furniture export sector.
The shortfall in 2004 is estimated to hit 5 million m3, one-fifth of total demand, with state forest supplies running out during the fourth quarter.
The situation is expected to lead to growing imports and prices.
