Timber workers have come under fire from their union for shunning labour and supporting John Howard’s Tasmanian forest policy during the Australian elections.
The Construction Forestry, Mining and Energy Union wants to excommunicate its timber workers’ branch and exclude members from any decision-making forums.
It is believed the CFMEU’s construction division wants to take over membership coverage of timber workers.
