The Nordic and German presence was orchestrated by Elmia Wood, the Swedish-based international forestry trade fair organisation, with German partner KWF.

“Together with KWF and the participating companies we will evaluate the results and will then decide whether to participate in next year’s EKO-LAS in September 2008,” said Elmia’s Per Jonsson, who organised the Nordic’s presence in Poland.

He said the Polish forest industry predicts extensive mechanisation, adding: “There are now clear indications from north-west Poland that manual felling is starting to become too expensive due to increasing wage costs and a shortage of local labour.”
