US forestry giant the Plum Creek Timber Co is going to court in a bid to have its north-west conservation plan acknowledged.

The company filed a federal lawsuit at the US District Court in Boise, Idaho, in anticipation of an expected lawsuit by environmental groups who oppose the plan.

Plum Creek’s plan has been approved by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and allows the company some dispensation from the Endangered Species Act if it implements a list of self-imposed environmental logging restrictions.
