The company has reported good levels of interest in its homes following its UK launch at the National Homebuilding and Renovating show at Birmingham NEC.

Helmut Gross, Platz Haus UK business manager, said the operation was targeting small developers and self-builders, but interested parties also include one volume housebuilder.

He said: “We think that more contemporary design and modern methods of construction will find a good marketplace in the UK.”

Mr Gross also said the company would provide an alternative to Huf Haus, Platz’s rival which has featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs.

He said Platz aims to differentiate itself from Huf Haus by offering a variety of build methods including post and beam and timber frame panel construction, which will give customers an alternative to large section glass on house façades.

The company believes the incorporation of cellars in its contemporary designs will be a big attraction for clients looking for more storage space and room to house utilities.

Platz’s factory is based in southern Germany and manufactures closed timber panels, incorporating windows, doors, insulation and services.
