Woodworkers and metalworkers rubbed shoulders at software supplier Planit Group’s first joint user group meetings across the UK.

In previous years, Planit has separated its customer groups at user group meetings so customers only attended meetings that involved the software brand that drove their CNC machines – Radan, Alaphacam, Cabinet Vision or Edgecam.

But Planit said as many customers were now using a combination of the software, it was decided to hold corporate events to launch the 2011 updates of each brands so users can see other brands.

Planit told delegates at the England, Scotland and Ireland meetings that it had emerged from the recession in a strong position and that the CAD/CAM market was now stronger than in 2005, 2006 and 2009 and heading back to the heights of 2007 and 2008.

Delegates also heard about the group’s development plans including acquisitions and recruitment. They were also shown digital prototyping for design, visualisation and simulation, improved support portals and downloadable releases of software.
