Martin Pilgrim, a director at builders merchant Birkenhead Building & Roofing Supplies Ltd, has ridden from London to Paris, helping to raise more than £12,000 for Action Medical Research.
Mr Pilgrim was part of a six-man team that cycled from Chessington, covering 340 miles over four days to cross the finish line under the Eiffel Tower.
“I’m experiencing what must be some kind of mid-life crisis, taking part in various endurance events, but this has been my toughest challenge to date. Not only was it very physically demanding but also very tough mentally; spending that long on the bike gives you too much time to think about how much it hurts,” said Mr Pilgrim.
“I’d like to thank everyone that has sponsored us, with special thanks to our main team sponsor Roto Roof Windows. In these dire financial times it is very refreshing to know that people still care enough to give up some hard-earned cash.”
