For the first time in the company’s history, sales in the period topped €1bn, with earnings before interest and tax rising 129.6% to €89.1m.

“We achieved an all-time operative record in the third quarter of 2006 in all our regions, despite the usual slackness in business during the summer months,” said Pfleiderer spokesperson Hans Overdiek.

All three of Pfleiderer’s business centres – eastern Europe, western Europe and North America – posted earnings rises.

“Pfleiderer is right on track to achieve its targets for 2006 and to continue its profitable growth in the years to come,” said Mr Overdiek.

For the whole of 2006, the group is aiming to hit total sales of €1.4bn and an EBITDA of at least €200m.
