The forest department in Peshawar, Pakistan is to plant 5,277 million saplings in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas during this year’s monsoon tree plantation campaign.

Saplings of different species are being sent to areas around the country for planting. The forest department has sent bigger allocations to areas with high human and funds resources in the hope that village developmental committees will carry out most of the planting and protect the saplings from the monsoon rains afterwards.

The forest department has also devised a lecture programme which will be delivered by forest officers to educate villagers on the plantation methods and goals.
