The Performance Window Group (PWG) has made its second acquisition, Clearwood Joinery Ltd.

Redruth-based Clearwood joins Mumford & Wood in the PWG stable of leading timber window manufacturers.

PWG, formed by executive chairman Roy Wakeman last October when it acquired Mumford & Wood, is seeking to build a group of well-known brands of external joinery products. It intends to keep its acquisitions independent while realising synergies and consolidating volume efficiency.

Mr Wakeman said Clearwood had a strong brand and presence in the south-west and would be a valuable addition to the group’s activities in the timber windows and external doorsets market.

“The intention is to develop the production and sales of Clearwood’s casement window ranges, together with their doorset and French window products.”

He said there would also be opportunities to further develop PWG’s conservation sash and casement ranges in Clearwood’s market place.

“Everyone involved with Clearwood is excited about this opportunity as we are confident that with the help of PWG, Clearwood has a bright future,” said Treve Temby, Clearwood managing director designate.

Clearwood was established by developer the Rowe Group in 2000.

A spokesperson for Rowe said Clearwood had grown into a major force in the timber widnow sector and the group was delighted to see it pass into the hands of PWG where manufacturing expertise, market knowledge and future direction was assured.
