An interactive database launched by the Pan European Forest Certification Council (PEFCC) will help customers and specifiers check the environmental credentials of wood products carrying the PEFC logo.

The forest certification database, at the PEFCC website www.pefc.org, allows people using logo registration numbers on the timber to find out its origin, who certified it and whether the certificate is currently valid.

Ben Gunneberg, PEFC Council secretary-general, said: ‘The PEFC logo already provides customers with the assurance that they are promoting sustainable forest management. In addition, this new tool provides quick access to all the information behind licence certificate numbers that a customer may require.’
