The high quality timber window and door manufacturer said that, after a "very successful first quarter" it decided to expand capacity and enhance its plant "to ensure continued product development and superior service".

The new semi-automatic paint line accounted for the major part of PDS’s spend and is described as state of the art.

According to managing director Tim Fairley, it will speed up production and result in a 30% increase in overall paint capacity. The factory has also been expanded especially to accommodate the new equipment.

"Reorganisation of our facilities will also allow a 50% increase in window manufacturing, which means we’ll be ablt to fulfil orders more quickly and provide more consistent turnaround times," said Mr Fairley. "The new paintline will provide a great platofrm to increase efficiency as well as expand the business. And all the expansion decisions we have made have been in the interest of customers and service."

He added that the additional factory space would also enable to company to develop a new showroom. Besides latest products, this will also feature information displays on enhanced timber window and door security, fire protection and environmental issues.
