UK wide bandsaw technology manufacturer Stenner Ltd is organising an open day at James Jones & Sons Ltd’s Kirriemuir sawmill.
Stenner, which represents German circular sawing technology manufacturer Paul in the UK, will demonstrate Paul’s AB920 Optimising Edging System, which it says has increased sawmill productivity and recovery at Kirriemuir.
The sawmill will open its doors at selected times on November 17 and 18 for visitors to see the technology, based on a Bruks butt reducer, Valon Kone debarker, two Primultini bandmills with a Cirus “Oscar” processing system, the Paul AB920 edger with laser scanner and a Paul C14 optimising cross-cut with automatic stackers.
Kirriemuir sawmill manager Martin Hogarth said the AB920 had increased the mill’s overall sawn recovery from about 60% to just over 70%. Mr Hogarth will take part in the tour, alongside Stenner and Paul representatives.
Anyone interested in visiting the mill should contact Stenner’s Syd Mather or Fred Harding on 01884 255700. Tour places are restricted.
