Russell Paterson, managing director of Paterson Timber Ltd, of Glasgow, has been elected president of the Scottish Timber Trade Association (STTA).

Mr Paterson, who was elected at the STTA’s recent AGM, applauded the sterling work undertaken by outgoing president Andrew Newton, who had ensured that members’ interests remained uppermost in the association’s work during his two-year term.

“I will ensure that our high standards of service to members are maintained. It is essential that we continue to address the matters which are important to our members and deliver value for money services,” he said.

Also at the AGM, Robert Bowie of William R Allan (Scotland) Ltd was appointed honorary auditor.
