The seven-branch, south-east-based company has launched the showroom in new premises next to its heavyside branch in Hailsham.

On the ground floor the facility features windows, doors, staircases, roof windows and “sky tunnels”. Upstairs are 15 kitchen displays – a completely new departure for the company – and a CAD studio. The showroom, with its integral warehousing, holds £100,000 of stock and has created six new jobs.

“With the open storage premises you need for the traditional merchanting operation in short supply in the south-east, we’re always looking for something different and new vertical market opportunities,” said Parker finance director Stewart Pierce. “For instance, in Tonbridge and East Grinstead we’ve got hard landscaping displays and at Uckfield we have our ‘brick library’ where we provide advice for self-builders and run architects seminars.”

Parker will also shortly open a new timber and heavyside branch in Haywards Heath.
